Question:

: I have a female puppy that is 3 months old. Sometimes I have cannot get her to hold her tail up nicely for judging purposes. She is very alert and has presence except for the tail. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Diane -

At three months of age, I would be surprised if you could get her to hold her tail up nicely. Many terriers can become scared (or just tired) waiting for the judge to take a look at them (and she's not old enough to be in the ring yet).

I'll usually put some treats in my pocket (or a small toy that I know my terrier will like) to keep her attention. If you can get her attention, she'll most likely forget about being scared (or tired) and her tail will naturally be held high.

Take you time with her ... she's still very young and you don't want to over do it at this age.

Good luck
Rick
