Question:

: : I thought I would come back to see if I could find anything on this since you have helped with so many of my questions. Seems that my 5 month old jack loves to hunt down and eat grasshoppers. Only problem is it gives him really bad gas at night that some times runs me and my husband out of bed. I have tried to stop him from doing this but he has that attitude you can't catch and by the time I have he has already eaten the grasshopper and hunting for another one. Help me if you have any suggestions if not I am looking the other way since he is controling our grasshopper population since we gave our goose away.

: Hi Jennifer,

: Okay I have to admit I laughed like crazy when I read your post :-) I have never experienced the aftermath of grasshopper eating here but I CAN imagine the smell haha!

: I don't really have much of anything to tell you about how to stop him from eating them except that if you are out with him make sure he sees you have brought some yummy treats with on your outing. Usually when they know you have treats in your pocket they stay pretty focused on you.

: If that doesn't work then I think you may want to see about getting that goose back!

: Good Luck!

Hi Jennifer,
I too also snickered when I read your post but the first thing that came to my mind was what food are you feeding. If the food is full of fillers, such as the food that you find in a grocery store, this may also be the cause. Mine have a hard time with a lot of corn or fillers in their diets so check your dog food bag and read the ingredients listing, and you may want to check out the FAQ on Food and Bones.
Hope this helps I can only imagine the odor!!
Regards
Linda
